First Journey on the Hanoi – Dong Hoi Luxury Train
The debut passengers of the Hanoi – Dong Hoi Luxury Train were impressed by the “hotel-like” experience, boarding at night and waking up to a new destination at sunrise.
Since August 10, the railway sector has officially launched this high-standard service on the Hanoi – Dong Hoi (Quang Tri) line. Ticket prices range from VND 600,000 to VND 1.1 million for seats and sleeper berths, with a 10% promotional discount offered during the first 10 days of operation.
Train QB1 leaves Hanoi station at 8:05 p.m. on even-numbered days and arrives in Dong Hoi at 6:10 a.m. the next day. In the opposite direction, QB2 departs Dong Hoi station at 3:20 p.m. on odd-numbered days and reaches Hanoi at 4:15 a.m.
The train, consisting of 13 passenger coaches, was newly manufactured by Jinxin Vietnam Railway Transport and Tourism using modern Chinese technology. It features onboard wifi, adjustable air-conditioning, 360-degree swivel chairs, and sleeper cabins with personal entertainment screens. This train model had previously been tested on the Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang route.
According to several travel agencies, train journeys are becoming increasingly popular among Vietnamese travelers, particularly in summer, as they can save up to 40% compared to airfares. With continuous upgrades in quality and service, trains are no longer just transportation—they are transforming into memorable travel experiences in themselves.
