Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai: Mu Cang Chai is a highland district of the Northern Yen Bai Province. The district lies at the foot of Hoang Lien Son mountain range, 1,000 m above sea level. To reach Mu Cang Chai district, go through Khau Pha pass – one of the four Great Passes of the Northwest. Mu Cang Chai has located about 280 km from Hanoi.
Mai Chau, Hoa Binh: Located down in fertile Mai Chau valley are beautiful villages of the White Thai people, doing a trek or cycling through the villages are things to do in Mai Chau.

Leave Hanoi and drive through the spectacular countryside and mountainous scenery to Mai Chau, a beautiful green valley home to beautiful White Thai minority people, approx 100 miles from Hanoi.

After breakfast, drive up higher towards Nghia Lo via Moc Chau highland. Some stop on the way for photos and visiting hill tribe villages of Hmong and Thai people.
Cross the Black River (Da River) and pass the little town of Phu Yen, Van Chan before you get to Nghia Lo. This off- beaten-track provides you stunning sceneries as well as spectacular view of local life.
Arrive in Nghia Lo around late afternoon. Check in hotel and the rest of the day is free to wander and explore around this laid-back mountain town.
Nghia Lo is a township of Yen Bai province and is known as a beautiful stopover along the northern loop. Here is home to 12 groups of people including Thai, Viet, Tay, Nung, Muong… If time permit, just takes a short visit to a local Thai village where you meet up with local villagers, chat with them to understand more about their culture and traditions.

Morning visit to the local market then says goodbye Nghia Lo for the 240km drive to Sapa. Today is the highlight of the trip since you will have the chance to see some of the most beautiful terraced rice fields in Vietnam.
Stop near Tu Le for visiting one of the hill tribe villages, enjoy spectacular view of mountain and terraces from the Khau Pha pass and then take a hike around the famous Mu Cang Chai valley for sightseeing of terraces and local life and take for you some best photos.
Keep driving along the mountain road on the edge of the Hoang Lien National park and up for the great view from Heaven Gate, the highest pass in Vietnam at the elevation of 2000m. Visit the Silver waterfall then drive downhill to Sapa.

Today you will take a light trek along one of the most beautiful trekking route in Vietnam. Start from Sapa, you will trek downhill along the Muong Hoa River through spectacular mountains, forest and hillside terraces to quaint hill tribe villages.

Get to the village of the Dzay minority in the mid afternoon, check in home stay and the rest of the day is to wander around for sightseeing and local interaction.
