DAY 2: LAO CAI – BAC MA MARKET – CHAY RIVER – SAPA – NIGHT AT SAPA
06:00 – get pick up at Lao Cai station for refreshing and breakfast at a local restaurant
After breakfast, we depart for 2 hours to Bac Ha market – Every Sunday, the different and colorful ethnic minority come all here to sell their homemade products or buy something for the family. They are Hmong, Phu La, Back Dzao, Tay or Nung minorities. Some of these ethnic minorities can’t be met in any other areas. Free time for visiting one of the most colourful market in the world.
At the market, you have chance to enjoy Bac Ha people’s simple but unique kinds of food with special wines made from rice, cassavas, corn and different sorts of fruits such as plumps, apples, peaches… talking to the minorities through the guide’s interpretation.
Take short drive to discover the H’mong King’s palace (old building built by the French & Chinese).
We go for a light trek to visit Ban Pho Village, the village is home to flower H’mong minority. We are invited to enter several local houses to have some green tea, corn wine, listen to the host talking about their family, talk to them… and then enjoy landscapes on a roundabout way to Bac Ha.
Have lunch at a local restaurant
Leaving Bac Ha after lunch for half an hour driving downhill to Trung Do village which hides itself in a lush valley, on the eastern bank of the Chay River amongst perfect surrounding nature. Take a leisure walk to explore this prosperous village of the Tay ethnic people who live in spacious houses built on stilts and well maintained their interesting culture and healthy way of life.
From Trung Do Village we will take a short motor-boat trip down-stream the Chay River to Bao Nhai where the bus pick up for 2 hours drive back to Sapa
Get back to hotel around 6pm
